I believe majority of mortgage payments have provisions for extra payments, but you are responsible to dictate where to apply them, whether it be towards the principal or the interest portion of your loan. You wouldn't want to leave it their hands to guess what to d with the extra amount because this is what happens. I can't fault Chase on this one.
