This council must begin to take action in order to have any credibility. That goes for Judge Moore as well. If the electorate sits back and allows Osmulski to become a member of council, it's all over. I tried to imply in earlier posts that it was well within the Mayor's purview to ask for resignations from city board members and that one of the key powers the Mayor wields is the right to appoint these board members. While I understand the reluctance to overreact and leave no one with institutional memory on the boards, there were and are many who have shown their true colors for over 15 or 20 years now. They needed to have been replaced by people more in line with the publics wishes as demonstrated by the election. By replacing these board members, you get new blood and new ideas and you give these folks some experience so they can eventually bring some of it with them if they choose to run for council. Venice truly needs a thorough overhaul and if the entire council doesn't get it then none of them have been paying attention to the voice of the people. They are calling out for change loudly and clearly. Have the courage to step up to the challenge. If you never try you'll never fail, but you'll never succeed either.I'd rather go down trying to fulfill the publics' mandate than to just try to "make nice" with all the folks who got us in this mess in the first place.
